On the weekend The Old Girl and I celebrated 37 years of living together. In 'sin' if you were ever to listen to Robert.
We shared a good bottle of Taittinger - a "ridiculously overpriced Champagne" if you were still listening to Robert and reminisced on the great experiences we've had together (more than half of our lifetimes), the places we've been to and lived in and people we've met, known and, sadly lost. I can happily say that the good times have vastly outweighed any trials and tribulations.
This morning while pottering about inside, being careful to keep the place tidy as per the instructions of 'She who must be obeyed' (The Old Girl's alternate title) while she's away for a fortnight, I had YouTube playing music on the TV and was pleasantly surprised to hear Sandy Denny singing her song "Who knows where the time goes?" with Fairport Convention.
I know that the lyrics and sentiment in the song are different, almost the opposite of our situation and my recollections but it's a beautiful song. Denny recorded it a few times on her own and with others (once also earlier with Fairport Convention). Here's I think, the version I was listening to:
